Litter & Kit Limits

#1

Post by kieer »

To keep our world believable and balanced, Wingbeats utilizes a simple litter system. To cut it short, wild cats live hard lives! Because of this, large litters are not the norm. To reflect that realism, and to keep our clan populations manageable, Wingbeats use life-time limits as well as litter limits.

Litter Size
Most queens have one to four kits. To decide fairly and add realisms, players must roll 1-4 to determine their litter size. If you are planning a plot where the queen is going to have more than 4 kits, you can request it through a plot. These should remain rare and plot-driven. Stillborn kits can be included in storytelling.

Lifetime Limit
Each cat has a total number of kits they can have in their lifetime, to keep clan populations realistic. Generally - up to 12 kits total throughout their lifetime. Rolled amounts should be adjusted to maintain within these limits. Medicine Cats and Forbidden Pairings have a lowered limit to enforce rarity.

RoleKit Limit

Warriors~

up to 12 kits total

Medicine Cats

up to 6 kits total

Forbidden Pairings

up to 8 kits total

Once roleplayed, living kits count towards the total. Mentioned stillbirths do not.

Ghosted By a Player / Kit Death
If a kit's player disappears or become inactive, the kit will be put up for adoption so that another player can continue their story. If the kit is not adopted, it will be given a proper death reason and the slot will return to the player(s).

If a kit "dies" before being roleplayed, that slot also returns. However, once a kit has been played, built relationships, or reached apprenticeship - that slot will stay used even if that kit later dies.

Wait Time Between Litters
A queen should wait at least real life month between litters. This keeps timelines realistic and allows you proper recovery and storytelling!
