Wingbeats' Perspective on User Privacy vs Platform Transparency

#1

Post by kieer »

Hi everyone!

On Wingbeats, we value both the privacy of our community members and the importance of maintaining transparency within our platform. The balance between fostering open communication while protecting privacy can be delicate. Our goal is to create a community where every member feels safe while also empowered to participate in the growth and development of our platform. This statement builds upon our Privacy Policy, which you can find here.

The Wingbeats administration team acknowledges the importance of transparency and accountability within our community. However, this transparency does not extend to the release of personal or protected user information. When you hear "transparency" used on our platform, this refers to involving our users in platform development - not exposing private data. We aim to implement a community-driven approach where members can participate in decisions such as:

  • Updates to community guidelines or rules

  • Feature and design proposals

  • Changes in staff roles and responsibilities

  • Adjustments to moderation or forum policy

This transparency does not translate to the release of personal or protected user information, including:

  • Email addresses

  • IP addresses

  • Account data

  • Private messages and posts

  • Moderator or administrative logs

We will only release such information if required to comply with an official law enforcement request. All members of the Wingbeats administrative team are held to a strict standard of confidentiality and are expected to comply with our privacy policy at all times. If you believe that a member of our team has violated these standards, please get in touch with us directly. Reports will be reviewed exclusively by ownership.

We recognize that trust is earned through consistency, honesty, and accountability. With that said, Wingbeats is committed to protecting your privacy while fostering an open, inclusive, and collaborative community!
